Gender-Based Violence (Violence Against Women and Girls) is a global pandemic that affects 1 in 3 women, with severe consequences on countries' social and economic development. Through discriminatory practices, underserved victims of abuse are denied services that are capable of helping them in domestic violent situations. The purpose of this campaign is to remind everyone that ending domestic violence starts with just one small action, whether that is seeking help or sharing.
National Domestic Violence Awareness Month is recognized each October through educational events, community gatherings, and support groups. Many advocates against domestic violence believe that women are the only group affected by domestic violence, which is why many studies focus on males as perpetrators alone. Our Mission Domestic Violence Services of Benton & Franklin Counties (DVSBF) mission is to create a healthy community free from all forms of domestic violence. Abuse can be kicking, shoving, pushing, pulling hair, throwing things, scaring or following you, or keeping you from freely coming and going.
